Sometimes the best love stories start in the simplest ways. Ashley and Andrew first crossed paths at a house party hosted by Andrew. The chemistry was instant, they hit it off immediately, and they haven't stopped talking since that very night.
Over the years, they built a relationship rooted in shared passions like drinking coffee, exploring the outdoors, and traveling to tropical destinations like Sint Maarten. When it came time to propose, Andrew took their love for travel to the next level during a large family trip to Costa Rica to celebrate both of their birthdays. For Ashley's birthday, Andrew booked a private, romantic dinner right on the beach and popped the question under the stars, turning a family vacation into an absolute core memory.
When Ashley began searching for a photography and videography team, she was looking for a company that perfectly captured a clean, beautiful aesthetic. While looking through Bow Tie Photo & Video's portfolio, she noticed a hilarious and perfect coincidence: the studio shared a name with Bowties Bridal, the boutique where she purchased her wedding dress. With the aesthetics aligning and the names matching so perfectly, it truly felt meant to be.
A Modern and Rustic Oasis in St. Johns
While Ashley and Andrew originally looked at venues directly in downtown St. Augustine, they ultimately fell in love with St. Johns Golf & Country Club. The location offered the perfect, laid-back atmosphere they wanted, away from the heavy city crowds. The venue's beautiful blend of modern elegance and rustic charm fit their mellow personalities to a T.
Instead of chasing a rigid theme, they chose a color palette that felt entirely like them, leaning into soft, soothing tones of dusty baby blue and sage green. The wonderful staff at the club ensured everything ran seamlessly, allowing the couple to relax and soak in every second.
For Ashley, the day was filled with anticipation from the moment she began getting ready with the talented team from Nic Studios, who executed her hair and makeup flawlessly. Stepping into her dream gown from Bowties Bridal, she was ready to walk down the aisle to marry her best friend, looking forward to a lifetime of tackling the world together as an unbreakable team.
Variety, Finger Desserts, and a Packed Dance Floor
While the ceremony was deeply meaningful, Ashley and Andrew were both incredibly excited to let loose at the reception. They designed the evening to be the ultimate celebration, focused entirely on getting all of their favorite friends and family mingling and moving.
When it came to the menu, the couple decided to shake things up for dessert. Since they aren't big cake people, they opted for a massive dessert table overflowing with various finger desserts for their guests to enjoy. However, they still kept a sweet tradition alive with a small, private carrot cake reserved just for the two of them. Fuelled by sweet treats and high energy, the room came alive as everyone rushed the dance floor to celebrate under the wedding hashtag #TurningNugent.
As the spectacular evening drew to a close, the new Mr. and Mrs. Nugent looked forward to heading home to pack their bags for their next big adventure: a tropical honeymoon to Curaçao in the Caribbean. It is the perfect start to a lifetime of outdoor adventures, morning coffees, and a beautiful future family.
